First of all dolls, I won't even make up excuses for not blogging! We all know what it's like to fall out of something just due to busy schedules and other things that just pop up in life.
But I am back now and planning to not only be blogging a lot, but more than ever this year. I spent the first week and then some of the new year trying to relax and catch up on work, but also plan a lot of fun stuff to write and share with you all.
So to kick off the first blog of this new year, I thought I'd write on a more advanced make-up technique, highlighting and contouring. I didn't learn this trick WELL until almost a year ago, and I definitely don't spend time doing it everyday, but when I have a little extra time in the morning or a special event and want to go that extra mile and make my face shape look even better, this is my go to trick.
Highlighting brings focus to your best areas, and makes you look glowing, bright, and wonderful. Contouring makes your face look slimmer and better. If it's done right it can do amazing things, while remaining subtle and natural.
If you do it wrong though, you will just like a fool, so blending is important to remember! ;P
Here's a before & after picture of contouring and highlighting
(ignore the rest of my gnarly hair and nastay lips and brows hahah)
It's not magic or crazy dramatic, but little tricks like here are what will really take you that extra mile
And here's my how to picture
In brown are the areas you CONTOUR using a fan brush and your favorite bronzer (matte) or contouring powder
In light pink are the areas you use your highlighting powder or liquid.
AHH scary I know lol
I won't go into deep explanation, you're using this to do things like slim nose and accentuate face shape, if you have any questions ask below and I will make sure to give you a speedy response. Doing it right will give you a slimmer face, stronger jawline, higher and bettwe cheeckbones, lifted brows, and an overall glow, and no nips or tucks required ;P
Stars have been using this tip for decades, why shouldn't we all have it in our arsenal?! :)
My favorite highlighter: High Beam by Benefit ($26)
My favorite bronzer: Shimmer Brick Compact by Bobbi Brown ($46)
These are the products used in example above.
Instead of leaving you with these terrifying pictures of my face, here's a sneak at the final look.
Thanks for reading dolls, glad to be back!!

It looks really good. I use the same technique, except the part between the upperlip and nose I don't highlight, but I will try as I've seen yours. What do you think about the benefit highlighter? I love their mascara, but highlighter I've never used. TschĂĽss, Valery
ReplyDeleteI love the highlight, but I haven't used mascara besides bad gal lash, which I'm not a huge fan of. High beam is a must have in my bag though!!

What a clever and informative post, as I am quite dangerously pale I do the mapping out thing with white foundation and then blend my normal foundation of the top. It looks pretty scary until it's all blended out.
