Hello Dolls! I'm really excited for the tutorial I have for you today, the perfect ballet bun! I love this sleek updo because you can wear it with almost anything, not to mention it's super easy! Perfect for lazy mornings and bad hair days, this is my go-to-up-do hands down.
There are many methods to making a ballerina bun, but after trying them all this method, the sock method, is the easiest and has the best results for me, and it stays alll day! Once I even slept with it in and it stayed put impressively well.
The first this you'll need for this is an old sock, I chose white because I have light hair, if you have darker hair, choose a darker colored sock just in case my hair slides it's not noticable or eye catching. The longer the sock the bigger the bun you'll have in result, I've found crew socks were perfect for the medium size I desire.
After you find the sock, cut the curved tip off, then simply roll the sock from the bottom up to make a little doughnut shape. That's it, you've got your perfect bun maker already :) Now for the almost as easy how-to:
Start with your hair combed out and as straight as possible, as you can easily tell I have naturally curly hair, so I blew it as straight as I could right out of the shower this morning.
Then gather your hair into a high pony.
After you've got your pony where you want it, take your sock doughtnut (lol) and pull your hair through the center of the sock, then bring sock to near end of pony, tuck in ends of your pony, and start rolling your sock up as far as you can.
Then ta-da! You're done. Pull and play with it to get it just the way you want it. Easy as that, you have a classic and quick updo perfect for almost any occasion. What's your go to up do?
Fix any mistakes with hairspray and bobby pins! :)
And a little something extra, how a few celebs rock this bun in their own way:

Love the sock bun!

Wow, this works really well on you! I keep trying to the "sock bun" this way but I keep failing :( I started using a mesh bun and I bobby pin my hair around the bun. It's not as nice as this one though! xo

I like this method a lot. But it sounds maybe a little bit weird, but i'm soooo scared the bun won't hold, i have to take it out, and people see i wore an old sock in my hair... ;-). but guess i just have to worry less. Tschüss, Valery
ReplyDeleteI really have to learn how to do this. I tried it before but it was a disaster! Thanks for the tips, I'll bookmark this for later :)
